about

‘New Year’s Eve’ is the second single by Alabama natives Harrison Scarecrow, out world-wide via UK-based indie Integrity Records on 23rd April 2021.

Penned by band members Ryan Tomlin and Will McCracken, ‘New Year’s Eve’ has a foreboding piano and bass-driven build as it provides a shadowy glimpse into a mind haunted by demons, praying the dawn of a new year will mean a fresh start; a second chance. Recorded with Charles Holloman at the renowned East Avalon Recorders studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the single oozes Harrison Scarecrow’s characteristic widescreen indie-noir and proves a worthy follow-up to the band’s acclaimed debut ‘Everyone With Someone’.

"Think the likes of The National, Elbow and even elements of James in their pomp" LWM Blog

"Building with a Springsteen-esque intensity throughout" Postcards From The Underground

"Cinematic, lyrically poignant & genuinely moving, it's a stunning debut" Listen To Discover

LYRICS

One more second its New Year's Day
And I'm a few more miles down the interstate
The cities close and fade away
One more second its New Year's Day

One more second damn the wait
Its cold as hell on the edge of the blade
And the whiskey stings the words I say
One more second its New Year's Day

Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh

So help me out, December
You're my last chance of the year
Nights so dark I can't remember
Days so grey they disappear
You gotta help me out
You're my last chance
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh

Inspired as much by the diverse landscapes and folklore of their native Alabama as their own formative years growing up in America’s Cotton State, Harrison Scarecrow’s widescreen indie-noir intrigues with its cinematic imagery and air of mystery whilst leaving you with the feeling that some deep personal sadness may be lurking just under the surface. ... more
